In these pages, you can find:
  • Information about the SEA (Summer Experience Abroad) France program. Our next group trip is in July (2004) to Paris and le Midi to cheer Lance on. Details (dates, cost, itinerary, etc.) about the trip will be posted here as information becomes available.

  • A link to the Yahoo! groups help list for French grammar. There you can read posts dealing with current grammar questions arising from our general on-line discussion of French grammar. Of course you will be able to post questions of your own as you work through the Amsco book. You can also ask questions arising out of your reading of the Blaine Ray TPRS reading series, Pauvre Anne. Remember, the purpose of this listserve is to give full class time to speaking, and yet allow you to learn how to read and write French as well as understand and speak it... Please note:

    • To join the group, all you have to do is set up a Yahoo! ID - Click here and then click on "Sign up Now". Once you have a Yahoo ID, click here and then click "Join". (You will have to wait on the moderator to accept you into the group.)

  • A link to a general commentary about what education can be in our public schools, for any one who wants some "stir up the mix" thinking. Note that this link is not connected to this French site but is a neat site to visit about education anyway. There you will find discussion about how we educate our children in this country..."

  • Information about special classes dedicated solely to Antoine de Saint-Exupery's Le Petit Prince...

the Papillon Rose

You can also email Ben at vpargolf@yahoo.com

to inquire about private conversation lessons

(still $20/hr!) or to procure a grammar book or one

of the Blaine Ray readers with CD's as they become

available.

You will notice that as you work on your grammar

and your reading, they will improve at a rate
commensurate with what you are learning in the
storytelling classes. Thus the best choice for those
who want to learn all aspects of the French language
is to participate in the listserve activity while you work    at your own pace on grammar, continuing to read at
home and coming to storytelling class once a week.
Don't forget: 70% of all vocabulary in a second

language is acquired through reading....

As the original A.C.C. (Winter of 2002-3) group
continues to advance, we will be discussing French
poetry on the listserve as well. But it will take most
people one year of storytelling before they are able to
penetrate into the good stuff: poetry by Baudelaire,
La Fontaine, Chenier, Prevert, and, dare we hope,
   Rimbaud!

Remember that those students choosing to do the
grammar listserve will be charged an extra $15 per
5 week session, in addition to the storytelling fee of
$50 for the five week session (still a better deal than
A.C.C. by $39!) Note also that the next session
begins Tues. Sept. 16, 2003 at Ben's house and that
payment must be made at the first meeting for the
   Sept. 16, 23, 30, Oct 7, and 14 classes. Classes
   meet from 6:30-7:45.
